Body for Life, day Who knows what….

Looks like I’ll be adding Almonds to my list of foods I can not keep in the pantry.  Too bad, because Almonds are so healthy.  But I completely lack self control around these things. I have no idea how many I actually ate.  I’m making my husband take the rest to work today.

Here is my list of foods I can not buy for the same reason:

  • Trailmix (the one with the M&M’s)
  • animal crackers
  • vanilla wafers
  • Resees Puffs cereal
  • Ritz Crackers
  • any box of cookies
  • And now… Almonds.

So, for Monday- I started off well.  I had a 30 minute run on the treadmill (although it’s gorgeous outside… but I was meeting a friend at the gym). Then we did our upper body weights.

I got home, and around 7:00 ate egg whites, mushrooms and toast

DSC_2079 I’m trying to space things every 2.5 hours rather than 2.  So at 9:30, I ate a whole wheat chicken wrap with avocado and tomato, and some fat free cream cheese.

DSC_2135 Then, at noon, I whipped up some cottage cheese pancakes.  I would like to make them with a scoop of protein powder, but I’m too scared.  I’m been disgusted by protein powder in so many ways, that I’m afraid to add it to yummy pancakes.

Then, at 2:30- I was in class , so I slowly ate  a bar:

Then at 5, I ate this great dinner.  Some local beef, a potato, and green beans.

DSC_2137 And then ALL DAY, I ate these almonds. And I mean ALL day! I have no idea how many I ended up with!  ARGHHHH.

My body for life meals- Thursday

I felt like I didn’t have 6 mini-meals, but 6 MAJOR meals today!  I’m OK with it though, because this morning Eliece and I biked 12 miles and ran 5 miles.  We have a triathlon coming up mid-May.

So, before the workout, I doubled my breakfast.  4 Egg whites (with mushrooms) and oatmeal with milk and strawberries.  (I think I forgot to take the picture of the oatmeal.- weird!

DSC_2067 Then, during the run, I had another EAS bar.

DSC_2064 Then, as soon as I got home… I was famished of course. I ate chicken, sweet potato, carrots, and strawberries.

DSC_2070 2 hours later, hungry already, I decided to make another one of the protein puddings.  Fat free-sugar free pistachio pudding, mixed with 1% milk and 1 scoop protein powder.  This is one of the few ways I’ll eat protein powder.  I HATE it in oatmeal.   I don’t think I could ever drink it mixed with water.  But pudding and smoothies are my only way I can stomach it right now.

DSC_2073 About 4pm, I ate a whole wheat tortilla with turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato and fat free cream cheese spread.  IT WAS YUMMY!!

DSC_2074 And last but not least, another reprise of yesterday’s salad because I loved it so much.  I had greens, sliced almonds, chicken (2 tenderloins), strawberries, and olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette.

DSC_2075 Then for dessert.. I ate a scoop of peanut butter with chocolate chips.. OOPS.. It was worth it. :)

OK, finishing up.. these actually don’t look like big meals.  I perceived things way differently while I was eating I guess.

Food addiction

Hey strangers!  Although I haven’t posted, I haven’t given up.  Thanks for all your encouragement and kind words.  As always, its a new day!  I took some more “before” photos of me today and was literally shocked at the subtle changes.  It was a good thing to re-motivate me.

I’ll post a little of what I’ve been eating the last few days, and here is a link to the Dr. Fuhrman article I was referring to in another post.  It’s a must read!

Thursday- Friday. Body for life day 39 and 40

Just catching up here. My problem in life is balance.  When I have something important to do (such as study for a big test), I can not do ANYTHING else until that thing is over.  All my energy goes into that one thing.  I can never study for an hour a day, and do other things in life that are important… like laundry!  No, I study for hours and hours until the test is over. Then I don’t open my text book again till it’s time to get ready for the next test.  Definitely my biggest downfall in life.

So, Thursday, I was getting anxious with too little time… So I actually only did the 20 minute cardio.  I worked out hard. Sweated a lot, but I felt guilty that it was so few minutes of exercise.

Then for breakfast… this hard boiled egg thingy in a whole wheat tortilla.  Plus a banana:DSC_1870

Then I drove up to Salt Lake for a training meeting (for my church calling), with my presidency.  I snuck this protein bar during the meeting.

DSC_1581

Then of course we had to go to lunch :) . So I got an Asian Chicken salad, and a lemon cookie.

IMG00136 IMG00137 I have got to get a newer phone. Those pictures are awful.  Here is something I learned from Dr. Fuhrman.  Once I ate that cookie, I wanted MORE treats the rest of the day. I was foraging around the house.. trying to get something sweet.  It was horrible.  Just that one cookie, sent me into a frenzy.  I ended up eating a few handfuls of cinnamon chips (Hershey’s.. intended for cookies), and a few taffy’s.  Those are for Easter and I keep dipping into them!  I shouldn’t have eaten the cookie!  Of course I didn’t take pictures of the stuff I ate on an impulse!

Later though, I had a Kashi bar.

DSC_1680   Then for dinner, we had egg salad sandwiches, strawberries and carrots.

DSC_1875

Then Friday- GREAT WORKOUT!!  I met my friend at the gym.  We did 10 min. interval’s on the treadmill, then barbell squats.  10 min. Intervals on the stairmaster then lunges.  10 minute intervals on the bike, and then ab exercises.  Then a 10 minute cooldown on the treadmill.  We were sweating hard!  We intentionally don’t do calve exercises. I hate them, and my calves are already pretty huge! I do not need them getting bigger!

Before working out, I had a hard boiled egg and a banana

DSC_1876 Then after, no picture, but it was soooo yummy.  I had oatmeal cooked with milk, protein powder, and strawberries.

The next meal I had a turkey sandwich, which was yummy!  And strawberries

DSC_1897 DSC_1895

Then I got snacky as I tried to study.. Popcorn!  Which I should have avoided. I really want to cut back on salt more.

DSC_1896 Then I started getting lazy and stopped taking pictures.  For dinner I made some chicken breasts marinated in italian dressing.  It was great! Plus some rice and corn.

This weekend will be tough.  Easter becomes a two day festival around here.  Day 1 , fun, neighborhood stuff.  Sunday, Family parties (we have TWO).  I am only going to have ONE free day! I prefer it to be Sunday family party day, because the food will be so much better than candy Saturday!

Happy Easter!
