How do people come up with these day to day titles?
Titles are somewhat easier on blog.superhealthykids.com, because those posts are actually ABOUT something! But the day to day life blogs, such as this… what do you say?? It’s Wednesday! Title enough? I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’ve been up since 4am. Now I’m waiting for my evening class to start, and so I’m a bit loopy!
I was at the gym by 5am. Much preferred. Especially being lame on the weights, I don’t need anyone watching! There were still quite a few people there, but not as many people as there were by 6.
So, I did an upper body weight routine. (Body for life style). Then I got on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Luckily someone left a SELF magazine for me to read. Whew!
My eating was much more intentional! Scrambled egg whites on whole wheat tortilla with a banana at 7:15 am
9:00 AM: Cottage cheese and peaches
11:30 AM: The rest of the peaches, chicken, and sweet potato. So addicted to those sweet potatoes! They are seriously so super filling! I could eat them everyday. That was my last one, so maybe I better stop at the grocery store tomorrow.
2:00PM Protein bar (just before class)
4:30 PM Greek yogurt (plain with agave syrup), pear, hard boiled egg, carrots, orange… ate in the car on the way to my night class.
All packed in this handy Speed Racer lunch bag

Kathleen. The Yoplait greek yogurt must be brand new. I was so excited when I saw it at the grocery store because it was so much cheaper than the others. Although that little cup was still 0.99. Anyway, since I was excited, I didn’t even bother looking at the label. I need to check next time. It was plain, so I’m guessing there was no artificial sweeteners? I just added agave to mine.

Amy. Everyone is jumping on the Greek Yogurt bandwagon, huh? I guess Yoplait couldn’t resist getting a piece of the action. You’re right about Yoplait being cheaper – Greek Yogurt can be SO expensive. But it is worth it, sometimes…it is so creamy and thick – I love it! I will have to try the Yoplait version. I don’t think 99 cents is too much. And I am so glad to see you eating 2%. We all need some fat, and sometimes people go crazy with never eating any fat. As for the artificial sweeteners, I’ve learned the hard way to double and triple check the labels. I hate artificial sugar, and am creeped out if I eat it, even accidentally. And they are so sneaky. Some seltzer waters even put it in now. And some drinks and yogurts and other products have real sugar, or HFCS and then ALSO put in Splenda or aspartame etc. It’s ridiculous. Why add the extra fake stuff? Or, if they were going to put in fake sugars, why include the real ones?
How are you liking the agave? I like it a lot. It has been a real roller coaster with the agave. For a while it was everyone’s darling child…it could do no wrong…it was amazing, and good for you, and sweet, and healthy etc etc. Now I find it’s kind of falling out of favor. People are saying it’s just a sugar like any other sugar and it’s not as healthy as everyone thought and how people are cutting it out of their diets along with other sweeteners (sugar, honey) when they go on a ‘I’m giving up sugar’ phase (very popular now). But I like it and use it to sweeten tea sometimes. Never tried it in yogurt (I always use honey).

I so agree! The problem with me is that it takes so long to jump on the bandwagon, its over by the time I discover something ![]()
I like the agave, because my kids put it on their toast, and it lasts longer in my cupboard than honey. Our honey crystallizes faster than we can use it, and the agave is just easier for them to spread.
I have heard agave has a smaller effect on blood sugar. However, working at the health department for so many years, I’ve tested my blood sugar in so many situations, and mine remains pretty stable. I literally ate one of those 500 calorie muffins once and a cookie, blood sugar stayed around 100. So for me, the fact that agave doesn’t raise blood sugar the way other sugars do, really isn’t that important. Maybe someone not as healthy and has wild fluctuations in blood sugar might want to be careful, but really they should be looking at all sweeteners, ya know.?
I couldn’t find the Yoplait greek yogurt on Yoplaits normal website, but their New Zealand website has this for the ingredients of the greek yogurt.
Ingredient list: skim milk, milk solids non-fat, cream, live yogurt culture.
Hopefully it’s the same!

I also wake up at four in order to be to the gym by five (weekdays only!). It feels good to get your workout in before the day has even begun. I haven’t had a sweet potato in forever! I should buy some. Also, I had no idea Yoplait made Greek Yogurt. There are no artificial sweeteners in it, right? I hate when they do that…I always try to read the labels so carefully.
