Tis the season for parties, buffets, and banquets where we love to bring a fruit party platter! In Utah, it’s very traditional to be invited to dinner parties and holiday parties where everyone contributes a dish. Rarely have I been to a party where the host provides all the food. We love it this way! It gives us an opportunity to not only bring something healthy, but show the others in attendance that healthy food can also be delicious and fun!
So, we decided to round up our favorite fruit party plates! Any of these would make a great offering for a party, whether it’s for a holiday party or any time of year.
1- The Fruit Kabobs
How can you not start with the fruit kabobs! Easy for kids to eat, and so pretty to look at! We made this one super festive by using red, green, and yellow fruit! Our dip was simply plain yogurt with some honey drizzle inside. You can also use vanilla yogurt. Some of our favorite fruit dips are:
2- Apple Nachos
Second we have Apple Nachos! Arrange sliced apples on a platter, and get creative with your toppings. We love this one from Lauren Kelly Nutrition. She used pears and apples! We also made one for Super Healthy Kids with a Valentines twist here.
3- Apple Sandwiches
I would love to see a whole tray of these apple sandwiches from The Lemon Bowl! Spritz with lemon juice to keep from browning!
4- Fruit Salsa
Whether you serve salsa with corn chips, waffle chips, or bread, chopped up fruit makes the perfect salsa! This one by Cookie Rookie has basil and balsamic vinegar!
We also made some Waffle chips with this one, using a waffle cone maker! It was so yummy for a dipping vehicle!
5- Ants on a log
This is ants on a log to a new level!! I love this idea for a variety of appetizers from Two Healthy Kitchens. She has a variety of fruits and a variety of toppings that the kids can customize or have fun with making their own favorites.
6- Fruit Bruschetta
I found several of these I can’t wait to make! This one with raspberries from The Cookie Rookie, or with summer fruit, or with blueberries from Two Peas and Their Pod! Bruschetta is delicious with some crusty bread, a creamy spread, and fresh fruit!
7- Fruit Sushi
Roll up some fruit in rice, just like traditional sushi! That’s what Self Proclaimed Foodie did for this appetizer.
We also made our own version of fruit sushi here!
8- Roasted Grapes
I have to admit, rarely do I consider cooking fruit, but these roasted grapes has got me wanting to try!
9- Fruit Pizza
Whether you are using whole wheat pita, whole wheat tortilla, or traditional pizza dough for a crust, assembling a fruit pizza with any fruit that is in season is great for little fingers picking up a slice on the go! I love this one from Two Healthy Kitchens, because I love the heartiness of pita bread for the base!
We also made one with a tortilla that was fast and easy!
10- Fun Faces
So many fun ideas on pinterest using fruit to create your kids favorite characters! Here is Elmo from Frugal Foodie Mama.
11- Floral Arrangements!
I can just see how impressed someone would be if you brought your appetizer that could also be the centerpiece! Two Healthy Kitchens has details on creating your own here.
Ours from a few summers back is here.
12- Simple Salads
I love fresh options at potlucks! If there is a bowl of just plain old fruit and a big giant spoon to scoop it out, I will ALWAYS partake! This one is from Dizzy, Busy, and Hungry!
13- Banana with its own topping!
Mmmmm.. these little banana bites with an almond yogurt and cocoa dip looks amazing from Nosh and Nourish! I would eat many.
14- Friendly Bugs
And finally, I have always loved the caterpillar fruit sticks! So simple, yet so fun. We made some for a party favor (to take home here). But if they are to be eaten at your party, make them like this one!
And that’s it!! there are so many more ways to bring a healthy appetizer to a party this holiday season and all year round! Bookmark or pin this page so you won’t forget!
